So grateful to be releasing new music again. I've been working away on a whole new project, and the first song I'm releasing off of it is called Half Life. Half Life is about struggling with depression. It’s about looking at my life and being afraid that I wasn’t going to live up to my full potential. About feeling like I had worked so hard and been through so much, only to feel like I still wasn’t living up to the expectations I had for myself. About the kind of hopelessness that settled around me when I felt like I was failing at living my purpose in life. I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though. I think a lot of Millennials in particular are feeling that way. Some have started to call it Millennial Rage. I called it Half Life.
The depression that Half Life is about really caused me to reset a lot in my life. I ended up taking a year off from TikTok for mental health and carved out room in my life to focus on making more music. Part of that space was spent experimenting with new technology, and the result is Half Life is going to be my first song in Dolby Atmos. Mixing a song in Atmos is a dream I've had for years now, since I first heard the tech in college. If you're not familiar with Atmos or spatial audio, it's the ability to hear sounds swirl anywhere within a sphere around you. I look to the classic rock bands of the 60s and 70s who experimented with stereo for inspiration. I feel like going from mono to stereo then is like going from stereo to Atmos now. I really want to see what is possible with experiencing music in this way. You'll be able to hear Half Life in Atmos on compatible streaming platforms and devices (Apple Music, Amazon for Music, and TIDAL) and in stereo everywhere else.
