Hello again :)
One of my favorite things about pop music right now is how it pushes the boundaries of content and sound. For the first time that I can remember, pop music is bringing experimentation, innovation, and discovery to the mainstream, along with incredibly vulnerable and honest lyrics. I think a lot of this has to do with the rise of Spotify and other streaming services. With radio, record labels, and brick and mortar music stores no longer being the only gatekeepers to music promotion and acquisition, the landscape of pop music has changed. The result is more interplay between genres, unique sounds and inspirations, and more freedom for artistry. I hear so many artists pushing boundaries, being more honest in their songs, and exploring sonic landscapes that I haven’t heard before, and it’s what gets my eyes wide, my heart pumping, my spirit racing, and my body dancing.
